Aufruf 2014

Kein Al Quds-Tag 2014!

English Version:

No Quds Day 2014!
United against the biggest antisemitic demonstration in Germany!

On the occasion of Quds Day, the biggest antisemitic demonstration this year will be held in Berlin on June 25th. This day was proclaimed in 1979 by the Iranian revolution leader Ayatollah Khomeini to rally support for the conquest of Jerusalem (Quds is the City’s Arab name) and the destruction of the Jewish state Israel. Since 1996 the Quds demonstration has taken place in Berlin’s city centre. It is organised by the „Independent Quds Working Group“ (German: „Unabhängige Al Quds-AG“), which is affiliated with the Lebanese terror organisation Hezbollah. Jürger Grassmann functions as the main organiser and applicant of the demonstration. On a video on the occasion of last year’s Quds Day demonstration, Grassmann proclaimed that the global developments and the worldwide events „do not occur coincidently“ but are „crimes committed by Zionists and their dogsbodies“. On their homepage, the Quds working group propagates that „public opinion is manipulated deviously by Zionist mass media“. The antisemitic stereotype of the Jewish world conspiracy becomes obvious in this and many other statements.

The demonstration participants rally support for an inhuman and misanthropic view of the world. Besides their antisemitic will to annihilate the Jews, these demonstrators have been spreading misogynist hate as well as transphobia and homophobia on Berlin’s streets for many years. Additionally, they propagate hatred against other religious and ethnic minorities.

This is why neo-Nazis have attended the Quds Day demonstrations several times in recent years. Although this Nazi attendance may be surprising at first glance due to the international character of Quds demonstrations, the hatred against the common enemy – the Jews – unites the diverse participants. This also applies to other antagonistic religious and political groups who attend the Quds demonstration.

The same features can be found at the right-wing conspiracist Monday demonstrations under the motto „For peace“ which have been held in the last weeks. The political content and aims of these Monday demonstrations are congruent in large parts with the Quds demonstration. The participants are united in the struggle against the so-called Jewish world domination that „stands behind all wars in all parts of the world“. Jürgen Grassmann and other organisers of the Quds demonstration in Berlin have attended the right-wing Monday demonstrations together with many German nationalists, „Reichsbürgern“ (English: followers of the Government-in-exile of the German Reich), leading members of the Berlin Nazi scene and other conspiracists. There is reason to worry that this may led to a stronger mobilisation for the Quds demonstration.

History has shown how the idea of „peace“ looks like for neo-Nazis and other misanthropic people. However, in their struggle for „peace“, antisemitic groups have become increasingly successful in gaining more followers who believe in their ideologies. The most successful contemporary example is the international antisemitic BDS campaign (boycott, divestment and sanctions). Pretending to foster human rights, the BDS organisers call for the boycott and isolation of the Jewish state Israel. With these instruments, they try to achieve the highest damage possible against the citizens of Israel and the end of the Jewish state’s existence in the long term. This becomes obvious in their choice of means: at the end of last year, activists tagged Israeli products in Irish supermarkets with yellow stickers. The analogy to the yellow badge (German: „Judenstern“) from the Nazi period is evident and intended. That BDS activists only pretend to foster human rights becomes evident due to their silence towards other major international conflicts where people are dying in thousands. They instead demonise and delegitimize Israel. Israel is judged under double standards that no other country has to face.

Antisemitism in Europe has become increasingly accepted in the mainstream. More and more Jewish communities feel seriously threatened. Antisemitic threats occur far and wide, not only as countless hate speeches on the internet. Physical attacks happen regularly. At the end of April for example, six perpetrators attacked and knocked down a man in Berlin just because he was Israeli. The victim was admitted to hospital with serious head injuries. This is why the terror attack at the end of May at the Jewish museum in Brussels, which ended in four deaths, can be understood to be just the tip of the iceberg.

We strongly stand up against antisemitism. This is why we don‘t tolerate an undisturbed march of hundreds of antisemites in Berlin’s city centre on June 25th, where they can propagate their extermination wishes openly. Anti-fascists should take the participation in counter protests for granted to act against the biggest antisemitic demonstration in Germany.

We demand:
Solidarity with all victims of antisemitic, racist, Islamist, misogynist,
transphobic and homophobic policy!
Unity against all extermination threats! Solidarity with Israel and its citizens!
Solidarity with all emancipatory freedom seeking people in the Middle East!
No Quds Day on July 25 in Berlin and elsewhere!
